Aileen has worked in a number of senior strategic and operational roles in economic development, city region development and social housing in both Scotland and New Zealand.

As Programme Director Aileen’s focus is to raise the profile of the Scottish Cities Alliance and facilitate and support SCA partners to achieve their ambitions for economic growth through the delivery of the Alliance’s Operational Plan.

Nicola McPhee

Nicola McPhee

Programme Manager

Nicola is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Strategic Intervention entitled ‘Scotland’s 8th City – the Smart City’.

Prior to working on this Smart Cities programme, Nicola had 17 years of experience as a manager within the public sector.

Key areas of responsibility included project development and management of a range of specialist services within the Community Justice field, partnership working across the public and third sector, financial management and co-ordination of a range of European and nationally funded projects, establishing performance and governance frameworks and management of communications and marketing.

Fiona Landy

Fiona Landy

Hydrogen Project Manager

Fiona is working on a number of hydrogen projects, including an EU project with the Fuel Cell Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH-JU). This project is about the development of commercialisation of hydrogen fuel cell buses and hydrogen refuelling infrastructure.

Before joining the Alliance, Fiona worked in the energy industry, during the last five years she worked within the renewables sector. Prior to this, Fiona held a senior management role for over ten years within the ICT sector - mobile data technology.

Iain McCreaddie

Policy and Stakeholder Manager

Iain is a qualified solicitor with a post graduate qualification in Housing Services. He has worked in a range of roles across the private and public sector in Scotland.

As Policy Manager with the Scottish Cities Alliance, Iain oversees the Alliance’s research activity and the policy alignment of its Operational Programme, identifying opportunities for collaboration. Iain also leads on the implementation of the Alliance’s European Action Plan.

Isabel McDermid

Isabel McDermid

Admin & Finance Officer

Isabel is the Scottish Cities Alliance’s Administrator, managing the day-to-day operations, running the office and providing essential support to the rest of the team. She liaises with the seven Scottish cities to distribute and monitor the Cities Investment Fund. Prior to joining the Alliance, Isabel was Service Delivery Manager with Glasgow City Council, where she was employed for 33 years, and held a variety of roles.

Lillian McDowall

Communications and International Marketing Manager


Lillian leads on the Communications and International Marketing for the Alliance, overseeing all international promotional activity and working with the Investment Promotion team to maximise their potential in the foreign markets.
Prior to this Lillian worked as a journalist for almost 20 years, working for The Herald, Sunday Herald, Daily Record, Sunday Mail and Metro. She also worked in Berlin for German news outlets such as Der Tagesspiegel and Deutsche Welle and worked as a foreign correspondent during her time in the German capital.

Amy Groden

Amy Groden

Investment Promotion - Marketing and Events Officer

Amy is responsible for Investment Promotion, co-ordinating events and marketing within the Alliance. Working with the Alliance partners, Amy’s role is to take forward all aspects of investment promotion and develop the collaborative promotional activity to attract new investment to deliver the propositions contained in the Cities Investment Prospectus.

Amy graduated from Strathclyde Business School with an MSc in Marketing. Her previous experience lies within the events industry, organising and running live music events.

Doug Young

Doug Young

Doug is responsible for coordinating the Data Cluster, a working group with representation from all seven Scottish cities and the Scottish Government. The Data Cluster has the goal of pushing forward the publication of open data in the cities to increase transparency and drive innovation, as well as improving the use and re-use of data within local authorities more generally.

Prior to taking on the role with the Alliance, Doug worked on open data and smart cities projects at Perth & Kinross Council.
